A Spectacular Event

Saturday, June 2 the WVC Athletic Booster Club held the 2007 Hall of Fame Banquet, presented by Apple Valley Honda. With over 175 guests in attendance, this event was a huge success. Guest speaker was Tom Parry, former Head Football Coach for WVC and Central Washington University. Inductees included, the 1983 Football Team, Head Football Coach Sandy Cooprider, Football player Gene Jessup, Basketball players John Grieg and Mary Bradford, the 1985 Softball Team and Head Coach John Kalahar. The Special Inductee was newly retired Men's Basketball Coach, Greg Franz. Honored for their community support was Dalton Thomas, Paul Thomas—posthumous, Dick Pieper—posthumous and Jim Haglund. Special recognition was also given to the 2006/07 team MVP'S: Wilber Velasco—Men's Soccer, Yanet Candido—Women's Soccer, Michelle Short—Women's Basketball, Nate Sadewasser—Men's Basketball, Lauren Brem—Softball and Josh Fish—Baseball.

Tod McLaughlin, General Manager of Apple Valley Honda, presented two $1000 Academic Scholarships to Ashleigh Hess (Softball) and Travis Fox (Baseball) for their outstanding performance in the classroom and on the field.

Special mention was also given to Carole Keane, Director of Student Programs and Outreach. She will be retiring from WVC after 20 years of service. Alan Clark, Athletic Trainer, will be leaving this summer to spend more time with his family.
